What Is The History Of The Chaco Culture?
The Chaco Culture National Historical Park was the center of the ancestral Puebloan culture between 850 and 1250 A.D. It was a community unlike any other seen before and since. For more than 300 years the high level of its community social organization and far-reaching commerce created a cultural vision and as the regional center shifted in the 1200s, the people shifted away from the Chacoan ways and migrated to new areas. Modern descendants of the Chacoan people still live in the region, and they see the Chaco as a spiritual place to be respected and honored.
What Can You Do At Chaco Culture National Historical Park?
First visit the Visitors Center and check at out all the maps that are available. Each site along the 9-mile loop has a short self-guided tour. Pet are not allowed on front country trails; however, they are allowed on backcountry trails if they are on leashes that are no longer than 6 feet, and pet owners must clean up after their animals. There are also ranger programs available throughout the year and April through October night sky programs and telescope viewing are offered. There are campsites available throughout the park, but you must bring your own food and water.

If you want to visit the Chaco Culture National Historical Park it is $15 for an individual entrance fee which is for anyone who is traveling on foot, bicycle, or as an individual in a non-commercial group to enter the park for seven days. The vehicle entrance fee is $25 for seven days, and is for all visitors who drive to the park in private vehicles. The motorcycle entrance is $20, and allows one motorcycle to enter the park for seven days.
