If you are the proud owner of a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM, your ride is built to last you for the adventures and miles to come, but it’s no secret your exterior takes a beating through the years. Keep your car paint in premium condition with these tips!

Wash, Then Dry

Make a point in your weekly schedule to wash your vehicle. By doing so, you can wipe away the harmful dust and dirt that builds up, as well as protect your vehicle from the harsh UV rays. When doing so, make sure you park in the shade, ensuring your vehicle is not exposed to direct sunlight. For products, only use an approved gentle automotive cleanser, and wipe with a cotton cloth, as harsh products will be harmful to the paint. The key to a successful car wash is actually the last step, which is drying. Use a towel to wipe off any leftover moisture to ensure your fresh exterior isn’t left with water stains.

Don’t Skip the Wax

If you want that “new car” look, polishing your vehicle’s exterior with wax is a must. Not only will it make your vehicle look great, but it will also protect it from nasty bug splatters, bird poop, and the harsh UV rays from the sun. Wax should be applied every six weeks or so for proper protection. If the wax usage is not kept up, it can actually cause damage, as debris builds up in the wax product.

Seal the Deal

If you buy a new car, or you have owned the vehicle for years, one of the best precautions to take is applying a paint sealant. These products only need to be reapplied every 6 months.

On the other hand, another product that works to protect your vehicle’s paint is a synthetic coating, which can be applied every two to five years. Not only does it keep the paint from fading, but it also does far more, including scratch and water resistance and protection from chemical stains.
