Keep Warm With These Hot Drinks

Homemade Holiday Spicy Mexican Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon

As you know, temperatures begin to drop in the fall. By winter, many areas are downright frigid. When you get cold, even a layer of warm blankets doesn’t help. However, there’s one thing that will. Sipping on a hot drink is a perfect solution. Not only that, but these recipes for hot ginger jasmine tea, Mexican hot chocolate, and pumpkin spice latte are incredibly delicious. You’ll love these hot beverages at home alone or while watching a movie with a friend.

Hot Tea

This isn’t just any cup of hot tea. Instead, it’s a delicious and soothing combination of ginger and jasmine. For this, you’ll need the following ingredients.

  • 1 tablespoon of loose-leaf jasmine tea
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 star anise
  • A handful of frozen berries
  • Slice of ginger
  • Wedge of orange
  • Hot water

To make hot ginger jasmine tea, place the tea and berries inside a large teapot. Then, add the remaining ingredients, excluding the water. With everything inside, fill the teapot with hot water and allow the ingredients to seep for approximately four minutes. Strain and enjoy.

Hot Chocolate

Similarly, this isn’t ordinary hot chocolate. Instead, it’s a recipe for Mexican hot chocolate, which is rich and delicious. When it comes to hot beverages to warm the body on a cold night, it’s hard to beat this.

  • 2 cups of milk (2 percent works best)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 ounce of bittersweet chocolate

You can make this hot drink in no time. Start by putting all ingredients except the bittersweet chocolate in a saucepan. Heat the ingredients over medium heat. While cooking, stir frequently. Once blended, add the bittersweet chocolate. You want to heat the hot chocolate but not to a boiling point.

After that, pour it into mugs. Finally, top the drink with shaved chocolate, marshmallows, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of cinnamon. Now, for a spicier version of Mexican hot chocolate, you can use cayenne instead of chili pepper.

Spice Latte

Although you’ll discover all kinds of lattes, pumpkin spice is by far the best for cold weather. This hot drink is a combination of sugar, pumpkin puree, vanilla, pumpkin spice, and hot coffee. For this, you can use granulated sugar or brown sugar. However, maple syrup and honey work well too.

To make this pumpkin spice latte, heat the milk, along with the pumpkin puree, sugar, pumpkin spice, and vanilla. Be sure to stir frequently. Then, add the hot coffee and mix well. After pouring the latte into cups, put a dollop of whipped cream on top.

One great thing about this hot drink is that in the summer, you can use cold coffee instead. As a result, you’ll enjoy an iced latte instead of a hot drink.
